The Magic Crumb prides itself in providing you with the most scrumptious tasting cookies possible, and uses the highest quality products without needing the use of any preservatives to extend the cookies shelf life. The Magic Crumb recommends that you enjoy your cookies within a few days of arrival for optimal taste and freshness while storing them in an airtight container. If you wish to store some in the freezer for future enjoyment then please refer to our Freezing Instructions.

Cookie Storage is Simple:

  • Store them at room temperature in an airtight container, like Tupperware.
  • Do not refrigerate any of our cookies as that will dry them out.
  • Store different flavors separately for the best result. Overtime, strongly flavored cookies will seep into other cookies. (Ex: If a Snickerdoodle cookie is stored with a Chocolate Chip cookie then it will soon create a cinnamon flavor in the Chocolate Chip cookie)
  • If you have limited airtight containers, place each flavor in its own freezer bag and than place those bags in the container.
  • If you are storing cookies in layers, use parchment or wax paper to keep them separate.

Heating Your Room Temperature Cookies

Some of our cookies offer a marvelously gooey center. You may enjoy warming up other cookies that have chocolate or cinnamon. (Please refer to the descriptions in our Cookie Menu)

Cookie Heating is Simple:

  • Place your cookies in the microwave oven for approximately 5 to 6 seconds. This will keep the integrity of your freshly baked cookies without altering its original texture. Be cautious if you decide to add more time.
  • Place your cookies in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes or until it is soft or the chocolate is melted.

Enjoy with your favorite glass of milk, coffee or tea!

Freezing and Thawing Your Cookies

Freezing is the best way to store your cookies long term and preserves the fresh flavor and texture so you can enjoy them any time.

Cookie Freezing is Simple:

  • Place individual flavors in a freezer bag and remove as much air as possible before closing.
  • Place the bagged cookies in another airtight Tupperware container or a similar airtight container and be sure the lid is on tight. This will provide double layer protection.
  • Soft cookies like peanut butter might stick together so we recommend you place a piece of parchment or plastic wrap in between each of the cookies. (Wax paper gets damp over time which is why we do not recommend using it)
  • Date and label your cookies for easy reference.
  • Cookies stored in this manner of double layer protection will be good for approximately three months.

Cookie Thawing is Simple:

  • Place it on your kitchen counter for approximately one to two hours until it reaches room temperature. Keep in mind that the time depends on the type of cookies and the temperature in your kitchen. The thawed cookies will taste like it was baked that day since you froze it at its peak of perfection.
  • Many of you may wish to thaw your cookies using a microwave but you should know that it is not the best way since it can alter the texture of the cookies.
  • Remember that chocolate melts.
  • If you have a Defrost or Soften Setting on your microwave you can have better control of the defrosting process.
  • Microwave the frozen cookies for less time than you think it needs. Everyone's microwave is different so we cannot recommend an accurate Defrost or Soften time.
